WEB UI and Application Developer

Responsibilities:
As a member of the Digital Home Solutions(DHS) team you will
participate in design, development and testing embedded client-server and
web applications for the next generation of Technicolor devices. Frontend
and backend server-side programming will be on the radar as well.
In particular, as a Web UI Developer, you will perform design and
development tasks for content-rich Web pages and application user
interfaces. You will work closely with the in-house graphic designers to build
highly interactive, data-driven, scalable consumer-facing UI components, using
the full spectrum of browser-based and non browser-based technologies
•?You contribute to UI design discussions and perform Product Manager
requirements analysis, translation of high-level specifications into a detailed
SW design and provide inputs for creation of software development plans.
•?You design, develop and test cutting-edge UI components (static graphics,
animations, stylesheets, etc) as well as software applications modules in
close collaboration with other software team members, product and
project managers.
•?You will work on different product portfolios (Gateways,
Tablets, STB’s, etc.)
PROFILE:
??Education: - Bachelor or Master degree in engineering (computer sciences, ICT,
electronics, telecommunications) or equivalent
??Experience: - Three years of experience in designing and developing Web based
applications with a presentation-layer focus in a team environment.
- At least two years experience in developing Windows/Mac/Linux native
or embedded SW applications.
- A few years experience with the following software concepts: multi-
threading, client-server applications and network programming in a
Mac/Linux and Windows environments.
- An experience in developing frontend and backend systems as well as
across-the-board knowledge of Internet technologies and standards is a
strong plus
??Technical skills: - Strong graphic design skills (vector and bitmap) and flair for developing
UI components
- High level of proficiency with hand-coding and debugging XML, Javascript,
HTML, Ajax (JQuery/Scriptaculous) and CSS. An good understanding
cross browser compatibility issues.
- Strong coding skills in Java or C++ and excellent testing and debugging
ability.
- High level of knowledge of OO design, common design patterns and best
practices
- Good knowledge of computer network concepts (bridge, switch,
routing, TCP/IP, firewall, NAT, DHCP, DNS, etc.)
- Knowledge of Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems, knowledge of
iOS 4 and Android is a plus
- Familiar with multimedia and content delivery applications (UPnP AV,
CIFS, FTP, video streaming, VoD, Voice over IP, etc.)
- Knowledge of UI tools (JFace, Adobe Flash, Photoshop, etc.), Spring, Java
Swing, JSP, ASP, Servlets, GWT, OSGi framework, JBoss/Tomcat
application server, ClearCase, LUA and HTML5(Canvas) is a strong plus.
??Language: - Strong English communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal and
listening), speaking Dutch and French is a plus
??Key competences: - Highly motivated with personal commitment towards quality
- Creative, analytical approach and knows problem solving techniques
- Can work independently, assist and advise the development team (a
team player)
- Willing to learn new skills and up-to-date technologies
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- No problems with traveling
